About The Game

Dark Sky is a narrative strategy game about preparing the town of Harimeow for a once-in-a-lifetime meteor shower.

You play as the town’s Dark Sky Liaison. The observatory has confirmed that Harimeow sits under the best viewing path, but a beautiful meteor night is not guaranteed. Streetlights, billboards, moonlight, haze, cloud cover, safety concerns, public trust, budget limits, and even a possible football victory celebration can all affect what people finally see.

Each of the 13 weeks, you choose one action. Every choice changes Harimeow’s readiness: some actions make the sky darker or clearer, while others improve safety, public trust, forecasting, or budget. Some choices are locked until you have enough resources or support. Your decisions shape the town’s final meteor shower night.

The goal is to create the best possible viewing conditions before the final night arrives.

How to Play

Each week presents a new problem facing Harimeow before the meteor shower.

Choose one action card each week. Your choice may increase or decrease key parameters:

  • Darkness affects how much light pollution remains in the sky.
  • Sky Clarity affects haze, cloud, and atmospheric visibility.
  • Forecast helps you plan around weather and timing risks.
  • Safety helps the town accept darker routes and late-night plans.
  • Public Trust helps unlock cooperation from residents, businesses, and event organizers.
  • Budget limits how many costly solutions you can afford.

Some actions are locked until you meet their requirements. For example, a choice may require enough Safety, Public Trust, Forecast, Budget, or a previous action such as surveying the mountain lookout.

After each action, night falls and the sky updates based on your decisions. Continue through all 13 weeks to reach meteor shower night.

On the final night, your outcome is determined by your sky conditions, preparation, and unresolved risks. Harimeow may see anything from a washed-out sky to a once-in-a-lifetime meteor shower.
